Anna is living in a living very cottage that was formerly owned by a witch friend of Grandma BB. Julia, who is the bookstore owner and Anna's witch mentor, is also a former friend of Grandma BB. Miranda and Jake who own Northwest Java, the best coffeehouse in town, have hired Anna to paint murals for their new location on the riverfront. The only problem is that Jake is convinced that the place is haunted.Anna decides to use her Vibe to find out if they have anything to worry abou. "The mysteries continue in Portsmouth" according to KMich02. By Familiar Means is just as good as the first book in the Witch's Cat Mystery series, if not better. The author gives the reader very well-developed and likable characters. I especially loved getting to properly meet Anna's Grandma B.B. While we were introduced to her in the first book, we get to see much more of her in this one as she visits her granddaughter in Portsmouth. The mysteries in the book are very intriguing. I do love the way the book ended and I sincerely hope to read more books in this series.. Magical Gabrielle Anna is getting her feet under her as a witch, and as a sleuth, with help from her mentor, her grandmother, and her cat. Of course, not everything goes smoothly - murder always complicates things.
