though I would have liked to see more insight into scaling these statistical methods Michael Bartling Most of my complaints are with the printing itself and not the book. The book is nothing special, though I would have liked to see more insight into scaling these statistical methods to hundreds of thousands of samples (more relevance to modern machine learning practices). However, I am very disappointed in the printing quality. For almost 200 bucks I would expect a book that doesn't tear as easily as this one. Also, you still have to pay another $100 to get the launchpad license. All in all, waste of money.. P.A. said Better than expectedpleasantly surprised.. I only rented this book, but have to say that I really liked it's explanations and the simplification. Didn't use the CD/software so can't comment on that. Was a little intimidated as it's a heavy book and looks a bit "scary" but I found the content to be great.. Amazon Customer said Delighted with the book rental option. Brand new book and was delivered at top speed. The rental flexibility goes light on the pocket too
