I get each year's revision of this Guide, mostly because as an author and editor I need to know current names of publishers, agents, and each publisher’s in-house editors. Long ago I learned the hard way that unless you address your work to a specific editor, and know exactly what that editor is looking for, there’s little chance of your getting read. I’ve also learned how important it is to thoroughly research the specialties of each publisher you’re querying—like, if the publisher you&rsqu. Skip. On page 11, he actually insults you the reader by calling you a moron if you can't answer his question correctly. While I realize it is very difficult to publish literature with a major agency, I feel this book is too negative and serves more to discourage the reader than provide assistance. I saw a lot of generalities and too few specific examples. In addition, the author talks about himself almost more than the subject and seemed to me like he reg.
