This was like reading a book report.. "Future Game of Thrones" according to William W. Reamy Jr.. Being a huge Dune fan, I have always bought and read all of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's follow-on stories, even though they are not as good as the original books by Frank Herbert. Most of them I have enjoyed but not this one. I think the authors were influenced by GRR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series as this book has virtually all villains that I would like to see die in a fire! The few non-villains have very little presence in this book and the story just seemed to stop, not come to a conclusion.. Steve Trapp said Loved it!. Loved all the Frank Herbert Dune series, and the series cowritten by Brian Herbert (Frank's son) and Kevin J. Anderson. They've kept me entertained over the years. This book's main plot is to tell how the imperial Spacing Guild was formed from the remnants of the capitalistic Venhold Corp. that preceeded it. Another main plot was to defuse the Butlerians.
