With SOMETHING IN BETWEEN author Melissa de la Cruz gives readers another book that entertains and inspires Cyrus Webb Author Melissa de la Cruz has a way of always taking us somewhere special with her characters, and in the book SOMETHING IN BETWEEN she does it again with the character Jasmine. This book, though intended for teens, has a powerful message for us all: No matter where you are at the moment that doesn't have to determine how far you can go and what you can accomplish. Jasmine's life is seemingly upended when revelations comes to light about her life, but she has a choice to make: will it break her or motivate her to keep pushing forward.Thankfully she has individuals in her life there to support her like Roy. An enjoyable and cute story with a very important message Alba in Bookland I found the premise for this story highly interesting and important. Jasmine de los Santos is an out-standing citizen: intelligent, hard-working and high-achieving. She's just received a national scholar-ship that will allow her to go to any university she wants; the only problem is, she is actually not a USA citizen. Her parents have been lying to her all this time, they are illegal immigrants.I cannot even begin to imagine how hard this must have felt for a girl like Jasmine, to have all her future stolen from her. And I think that the author made a great job of describing Jasmine's and her family's fea. Carpe Librum said Enjoyable. I must admit the book began a bit too slow for my liking. I contemplated putting it down a few times but in the end I'm glad I didn't. The main character is Jasmine, she is a cheerleader and is always pushing herself to do better. Jasmine receives some great news that she has been elected for the National Scholar Award. She is so excited she goes and tells her family first, however she doesn't receive the reaction she was hoping for from her parents. That is when they confess about the green cards, they don't have them anymore it expired years ago and were technically illegal immigrants in this country. J
