redrum90 said I refuse to believe it's over. I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to this phenomenal series. A few years ago, fresh after getting my first Kindle (which was a big deal for an English language reader not living in an English speaking country) I randomly chose "Johannes Cabal: The Necromancer" as my next read. Oh boy, I was in for a ride. The adventures of a necromancer of some little infamy quickly became on of my favourite book series ever. A series which is now coming to a close (at least for the time being, as the author claims). The fifth and final (?) book doesn't make this farewell ea. Howard delivers again Could it be? Our favorite Necromancer is developing something recognizable as a genuine sense of decency? The House Johaness had built when we first met him is fallen indeed! All Johaness' most charming friends and foes put in appearances on a road trip of phantasms. The only question is what prices will be paid? And by who? Will someone be shot fatally? Will we loose our favorite vampire? If Johaness has to choose between his allies or his quest to resurect his dead wife wifewhich will get burned?I was entertained from start to finish.. Heir to the Throne I loved the book. Jonathan L. Howard fills the void left by Terry Pratchett in this reader's withered heart. Can't wait to read more about my new favourite chatacters' adventures. Counting down the days till the next one, which is its own special kind of torture.

BookGeeks"Cabal, the detective and necromancer, is full of charismatic amorality, making him both a classical and refreshing antihero." Time Out Chicago"Jonathan L. Cabal remains an entertaining antihero whose complexities have deepened over time, and the conclusion of the narrative threads that have spanned the previous four Cabal books is both satisfying and touching."

London, to be exact.Yet even though Cabal has risked such peril believing he understands the dangers he faces, he is still underestimating them.
