Michael Kohlman said Jewish traditions, Jewish life-styles; but you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this cookbook!. Had I been able I would have given it a six star rating. It is more then a cook book with recipes as it also contains interesting facts, history and origins of the dishes they present. Considering I love process cooking (from scratch), it has some easy to make cheeses, instructions on making pic. "A must for all Ashkenazi Jews." according to Rebecca A.. Manifesto is quite the accurate title. Growing up as an Ashkenazi Jew in the United States, I have always felt quite disconnected from my culture. My grandparents refused to teach yiddish to my parents. My mother hates to cook. I found a box of my grandmother's recipes once but none of them made. Doesn't get much better than list Iris Good, modern, updated Jewish cookbooks can be hard to find and the ones I've seen are often focused on food for the holidays only.
