What a fine piece of world literature S. Roberts Wow. What a fine piece of world literature. Story is grim, gripping, tautly written with tension mounting page after page. Crucial that reader understand Kafka's personal history/background, that particular era in Europe, as well as the intellectual influences that shaped Kafka as a young lawyer/writer. Influences include German realism, mysticism, . Strange and difficult This has got to be one of the strangest books I've ever read. Is it a bad dream or is it the angst we all feel over our misdeeds. There were times I wanted to stop reading because it didn't seem to make sense. Now I'm quite sure it is not supposed to make sense. I'm not sure I would recommend this book to anyone a although the writing has a certain . If you love Hesse, you'll love this I read it because it's a classic and I try to read a couple of year. The free Kindle version is not well-edited, which is a bit distracting (but what do you expect for free?).
