laridder said A Testimony of Faith and Hope. I loved this book. For a myriad of reasons, not the least of which is that it told a story I'd not heard before. My husband's family are Dutch Immigrants - and I was enthralled from the first page to learn of the hardships and horrors they survived in order to be free to worship God as they chose in America. What a strong and resilient people!!This story resonates with patriotism, faith and HOPE! Shank I was blessed with a free copy of this book. I do however prefer to read off my Kindle so I did also buy it. The copy I received though looks at first glance to be a decent size to read. It is 384 pages long. I feel like I judge books by their length sometimes because it lets me know the story is thought out and the characters are developed and have depth. This book did not let me down. The cover is a picture of a girl holding a book looking out to the ocean as well as a historic looking large hotel building by the bea. Lynn Austin is my all time favorite author. I have read and own every book Katie Lynn Austin is my all time favorite author. I have read and own every book she has written. I always have high expectations for her books and expect twists and turns and layers of the story.In that aspect, Waves of Mercy was like that. However, it took some twists that most novels don't. Austin writes about religious persecution, immigration, marriage, love and duty in a way I don't think I've read before. I expected one twist but was completely blindsided by the others.
