I purchased it because the TRUE story of Hugh Glass is SO amazing I want to learn all I can about it. The book was purchesed with the belief it was non fiction, even the back cover of the book says "Hugh Glass is the incredible true story of one man". Unfortunately there is a LOT of fiction here. HE WAS A WHITE MAN, WHOSE STORY WAS SO POWERFUL IT BECAME A TRADITION AMONG THE INDIANS OF THE AMERICAN PLAINS! For most of his thirty-seven years, Hugh Glass lived his life as an ordinary seaman, but in 1817 his ship was captured and he was given the choice to join a pirate crew or die. From that time on his life became an adventure that ranged from the edges of the Caribbean to the heart of the American wilderness! BASED ON A TRUE STORY! Mauled by an enraged grizzly, then robbed and left to die alone, hundreds of miles from civilization, HUGH GLASS is the story of one man whose will to live despite all odds is a testimony to anyone who ever had to face peril and adversity!

".a great read and should be added to the library of those who have interest in American History." -- On The Trail Magazine"The kind of book you hate to put down!" -- Fraser Whitbread, Muzzle Blasts Magazine

It was supposed to the BIG TYPE but turned out easy reading but double spacing no big type. Not sure exactly where the documented story of Glass began in this book, but the seaman saga was interesting and told well. I enjoyed the movie Man in the Wilderness but not the Relevant too much. There are so many tales of what happened to Glass. First hand and some made up by pe. My only criticism is there was a big and long K. Kerlin My only criticism is there was a big and long work up during the book that was very enjoyable but then it just ends, kind of anti climatic
