She gives us her background growing up and the difficult (to say the least) relationship with her father and mother both personally and business-wise. Eventually, of course, she's able to move past that and emerges as someone who seems to have made it through and is now in a good place in her life. The beauty of this book . Although some may like the psychological aspect of this book Hada Although some may like the psychological aspect of this book, I felt it was too much of the psychoanalysis Jewel did in this book, and she did not have to. It is great for celebrities to write their life stories and share how it has not always been glamorous and what you see on the surface is not what can be in reality. A great read for younger generation who fantasize about some of their idols.. "The ultimate survivor" according to Delia M. Kal-harp. I must preface this review by saying I really don't know jewel as a singer. Her story however will resonate with those of us who grew up in dysfunctional homes especially girls with fractured mother relationships. She offers her story of resilience, talent and persistence as well as offering survival skills that helped her along the way.
