As Jiles reveals it though, the white world and the Indian worlds are in a constant batt. A Journey of the Heart and Wide Open Road Kindle Customer This book operated on several levels. On one hand, it is a rather straightforward story of the developing relationship between a girl and, as she calls him, her grandfather, as they travel through the wilderness. On the other, it is a story that examines themes of family, duty and the rediscovery of one's purpose in life. One of the the other threads running. "A terrific read for anyone living in north or central Texas" according to Amazon Customer. Very believable characters in a different time. Transports you back to that time. Can't put it down once you get into it.
And that’s what News of the World is: Pure and good. Save for the carnage, this could be a great plot for Disney movie, and there is even a cinematic showdown thrown in for good measure. An Best Book of October 2016: I’ll admit, Paulette Jiles’s News of the World was not at the top of my to-read pile.
