No real characters in this book, not my thing I had high hopes because of the many positive reviews of this book, and although I usually prefer Fantasy to Sci-Fi, I don't dislike Sci-Fi and have enjoyed quite some books in that genre. I also liked Hunger Games a lot and a good dystopian novel is my kind of thing.. "Entertaining Dystopian Adventure" according to Lee Dunning. What initially drew me to this book is the simply but eye-catching cover. Yes, I'm a sucker for nice cover. Beyond that, I was hoping for a decent science fiction story. I'm not entirely sure I got that, as the "science" was pretty fantastical, but it was an entertain. Dark, violent, and really interesting futuristic fantasy. I could barely put it down. If you took a little Lord of the Flies, a little Hunger Games, and a little Hogwarts Academy, then mixed it up with some Roman history and set it hundreds of years in the future you might come up with this book.
