Rules of Civility is one of those. It's a throwback novel, the kind in which unashamedly bright characters engage in impossibly witty conversations. The novel takes its . "Deserves no calling card" according to Andrea Grenadier. Having read a lot of book like this, in the Louis Auchincloss style, I was expecting the same, and it delivered. I partially admire authors that take the dubious challenge of making their least-interesting character the center and narrator of the novel, and the author doesn't disappoint in that respect.
