Drew Daywalt Does It Again! Drew Daywalt does it again! His latest book “The Day the Crayons Came Home” once more features Duncan and his very unusual, very verbose crayons. Humorous postcards, written by different, individual colors of crayon, will have you laughing aloud at their complaints, misadventures, and revelations. (Be sure to note the postcard’s description – when shown.) Since they are traveling a long distance to reach home or need assistance to leave, several of the crayons do send multiple postcards. With the exception of yellow and ora. "Great gift for the new reader" according to C. Ledford. Bought the book as a Christmas gift for my great niece who is just starting to read. Loved the whimsical nature of the concept and the fact it was going to a young lady with an artistic streak just made the fit feel too perfect. Talked to her recently on the phone and learned just how right I was. She loves the stories and has had a lot of fun with them. Makes me wish she still lived here so she could read the books to me. I highly recommend it for any young child and any adult who enjoys reading to children.

A glow-in-the-dark spread and chatty household items, such as a sock, a paper clip, and a pencil sharpener, are new aspects to look forward to, and the general theme of home being a place where everyone belongs will resonate with old and young readers alike. VERDICT A brilliant, colorful tale that begs to be read aloud and a must-have for all collections.—Shelley Diaz, School Library Journal . Jeffers's mixed-media illustrations of photographed postcards and childlike crayon drawings against white backdrops enhance kid appeal and encourage close visual reading.
