Preschool classroom loved this book Amazon Customer Preschool classroom loved this book. We had a bully problem and all of the kids quickly realized they could stand up to people who bullied them. Some of the language was a little strong for preschoolers so I just changed the wording as I read.. As a school counselor I deal with a lot of As a school counselor I deal with a lot of playground issues. This story was well written and illustrated. It kept the kids attention and we were able to do activities off of it.. Great book to use in your classroom. Amazon Customer Super book on bullying. A little simplistic in it's solution to the problem. But that is expected in a children's book. Great book for teachers to use.
And then one day a puny new girl shows up on the playground and catches Mean Jean completely off-guard. Not only is little Katie Sue not the least bit intimidated by the bully, she actually asks her to jump rope with her. Sure, it's simplistic, but there's a strong element of truth in this energetic rhyming story by Alexis O'Neill (Loud Emily). Big, bold, funny acrylic and collage illustrations by Laura Huliska-Beith (The Book of Bad Ideas) bounce right along with the text. Bullies are people, too, and sometimes nothing is quite so effective as ingenuous disarmament. Oh, would that all bullying problems could be solved so easily!
