“Once you are Real you can't become unreal again. There, he becomes "Real," a cherished childhood companion who will be loved for eternity. It lasts for always.”Here is one of the most classic and beloved children's stories, with the original illustrations from 1922 - the ideal gift for baby showers, birthdays, weddings, and holidays throughout the year. At first a brand-new toy, now a threadbare and discarded nursery relic, the velveteen rabbit is saved from peril by a magic fairy who whisks him away to the idyllic world of Rabbitland. Treasured for generations, this is a timeless tale about the magic of boundless love.

'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'" This sentimental classic--perfect for any child who's ever thought that maybe, just maybe, his or her toys have feelings--has been charming children since its first publication in 1922. A stuffed toy rabbit (with real thread whiskers) comes to life in Margery Williams's timeless tale of the transformative power of love. In time, the shy Rabbit befriends the tattered Skin Horse, the wisest resident of the nursery, who reveals the goal of all nursery toys: to be made "real" through the love of a human. Don't buy this black and white edition Amazon Customer This is a wonderful book, but do not buy this edition. They've taken the lovely color illustrations and made them black and white, then they have reduced them to about half size. You can hardly tell what the pictures are portraying. What child would enjoy that? I intend to donate this book to my library and order one with the color pictures.. The perfect gift Amazon Customer This is the perfect cult classic. I grew up with this story. I saw the cartoon movie when I was six years old. I bought the collector addition in my early twenties. I bought a used version of this book when I lived in Dewey Oklahoma. Now I have another book of it. It is just beautiful. The pictures in the book, look like a verity of water color paintings. Th. Would Recommend, Good Book for Children C.D.Ingalls Very good book to read to your children. My wife loved hearing this story when she was little. I never heard of it until just last year when she told me about it. We gave the book to one of our friends who just has a baby and she loves reading the book to her son. If you want a good children's book, I would recommend the Velveteen Rabbit.
