"Flavia returns!" according to Angie Boyter. When we last saw Flavia (As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust), she was at a boarding school in Canada. I didn’t think Flavia fit in Canada any better than she did and was pleased at her decision at the end of that book to return home to Bishop’s Lacey in the England of the 1950s. The big question was, though, whether she (and the series) would regain her old form. The answer is a resounding Yes!Flavia arrives home daydreaming about a big welcome from her family only to find that her father is gravely ill and in the hospital, and she is not permitted to see him. Fortunately, she soon finds a very interesting body, a. cmp said Flavia's Home!. Flavia is back in England, but not all is well. Her father is ill, and annoying Undine is still there, and her sisters are almost as mean as ever. But when the vicar's wife sends her on an errand, she, inevitably, finds a body instead.Flavia is becoming more mature - she is questioning herself a little more and is realizing that total frankness may not be the easiest way to get all the answers. The household is worried about her father, so she's a little more able to do her own thing without interference, which is nice. But, she does begin to feel the weight of the future ownership of Buckshaw. She also realizes as some poi. "I've enjoyed all of the books in this series, but" according to Dancinghare. I've enjoyed all of the books in this series, but this one wasn't up to par. It seemed a bit jumbled and disconnected, and some of the plot elements didn't hold water. Inspector Hewitt was strangely absent throughout most of the book. A situation between Feely (Flavia's sister) and her fiancé was inexplicable and didn't add anything to the story. Flavia's final encounter with the alleged murderer was borderline ludicrous. Even so, It was good to observe Flavia's process of growing up, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

The only living creature in the house is a feline that shows little interest in the disturbing scene. Only too eager to run an errand for the vicar’s wife, Flavia hops on her trusty bicycle, Gladys, to deliver a message to a reclusive wood-carver. Curiosity may not kill this cat, but Flavia is energized at the prospect of a new investigation. But what awaits Flavia will shake her to the very core.Praise for Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew’d“Mystery fans seeking novels of wit, an immersive English countryside setting, and rich characterizations will be rewarded with this newest entry in the award-winning series.”Library Journal (starred review) “There is such a thing as willing suspension of disbelief brought on by sheer outlandish charm, and that’s what Alan Bradley and some delicious writing have tapped.”London Free Press“Flavia’s first-person narration reveals her precocious intellect as well as her youthful vulnerability.”Shelf Awareness “Flavia is once again a fun, science-loving protagonist.
