Wonderful Goodnight Story Book! This is a great book that I truly believe all kids will cherish. It's fun to read to them, and the jokes are silly enough that adults will laugh too. Reminds you of the child within. Shel Silverstein really hit kids books out of the park. He was a home run winner! This is as essential a book to kids as his other book The Giving Tree, although it's full of small poems for bed time and much lighter at heart. Definitely recommend this author for kids.. Jim Trelease, author of The New Read-Aloud Handbook, calls this book "without question, the best-loved collection of poetry for children." (Ages 4 to 10). Shel Silverstein shook the staid world of children's poetry in 1974 with the publication of this collection, and things haven't been the same since. What child can resist a poem called "Dancing Pants" or "The Dirtiest Man in the World"? Each of the 130 poems is funny in a different way, or touching or both.
