The writing moves effortlessly between hilariously funny and truly moving. The characters manage to be both larger-than-life satires and also complicated, fully-develope. "Bernadette is a worthy heroine" according to S. A. Hudgens. I had this book on my Wish List after reading about it when it first came out over a year ago. I was happy to be able to order it when it was on special despite not exactly remembering the initial synopsis which led me to save it to buy later. I was not disappointed, and I found myself really loving the pace of the book, the development of characters, the building of suspense (and in such an unusual way), and the pleasant anticipation and wonder about how everything that was happening was going to be resolved.
