It's told in the third pers. I imagine Murakami (in some parallel universe) as this legit crazy person who tells super-interesting (but long) bedtime stories mikedoeseverything I just finished Book 1 of 1Q84. It's good but very long and feels like I am reading an episodic soap-opera that just won't move along and tell the story. Murakami repeats himself a lot in 1Q84 and it's frustrating. I feel like Book 1 could have easily been 35% shorter and still achieved the same effect. I am taking a break from Murakami for now since I could have read 2 books in the time it took me to read Book 1. I will read books . "Murakami is back" according to Eduardo Yoshikawa. I could hardly read this first volume in Japanese this time, and it was great! This is not the first time Murakami writes in third person's view. There are two parallel stories, Tengo is a writer and is reviewing a romance wrote by "Fukaeri" another is about Aomame, she is an office lady and has an interesting active life. Seems by the end of this first volume that the two stories somehow will intersect each other in the next volume
