A definite must have Amazon Customer I did my MSc. in Infectious Diseases using the 4th edition of this book and I've now started my PhD in Pathogen Genomics (specifically related to antibiotic resistance) with this 6th edition as my aid. This book is PERFECT. It is high yield, gives you everything you need to know in a casual writing style, like a friend explaining instead of a hard, dry text book. I love the little cartoons, it makes the subject matter more palatable and interesting, and the mnemonics make memorizing easier. It is structured well and covers everything. An excell. "In conjunction with class material, not much of a difference" according to Scuba. I used this book as a study tool for a 200 level university Clinical Microbiology class.PROS: This review book was wonderfully illustrated and written. Pictures and mnemonics organized characteristics of selected microbes, and the summary tables were an important and appreciated detail.CONS: I found that it conflicted with some of the information found in my lecture power points. In some cases, some virulence factors were irrelevant or not currently taught. Additionally, some important bacteria were not included.. Cool diagrams. Very cool diagrams and sketches to help you recall. If you have a hard time remembering any one thing this book was a good additional look from a different angle. Not all of the required ones in class were in the book but the ones that were in there were very useful.
